Changes in the release date - July 15th

The creative force in our company had brilliant ideas how to improve the new release. However, it required more time than we have previously planned. Therefore, we have decided to postpone the release to July 15th so we can deliver better features and friendlier user interface.

As a result, the new release will include:

Dashboard customization
New and improved timesheet (better and more usable time reporting system)
Project portfolio view
Tasks section improvements
Other minor improvements

Moreover, based on your feedback we have noted that the time-off and expenses section do not add value to your ProjectOffice.net experience. Thus, they will be removed with the release on the July 15th.

By then, we recommend that you transfer your time-offs and expenses (if you have created any) somewhere else.

Substantial improvements are coming on the 29th of June

In the past few months we have seriously considered all of our users' functional and usability related remarks and comments, so we have decided to act upon it.

All your suggestions were taken into consideration, developed and are in the testing phase right now.

Therefore, on the 29th of June with the new release following improvements and new features will be introduced:

Calendar customization
New and improved timesheet (better and more usable time reporting system)
Settings section improvements
Dashboard customization
Project portfolio view

Moreover, in order to make ProjectOffice.net more usable, consistent and functional we have decided to remove 2 functionalities:

Time-offs
Expenses

These functionalities were rarely used by our users and weren't found quite useful and consistent with other parts of the tools.

So, they will be removed with the release on the 29th of June. By then, we recommend that you transfer your time-offs and expenses (if you have created any) somewhere else.

New release features (09.04.2009)

Today (09.04.2009), we had a new small release of the application which went smoothly.
Now, with the new release you can:

Add task attachments
Add finish-to-start task dependencies
Quick edit tasks in the Gantt chart to view how the changes effect other tasks.

Congrats to our development team who made one more impeccable release.

Multilanguage is finally here

Yesterday (18.03.2009), we released a new version of the application.
This release includes:

Multilanguage - Spanish, German and French version.

Settings - Options to set time format, date format, time zone, application language, space language, personalized logo, session length as well as to change space name.

Save project as template -Possibility users to save their projects as project templates. Following information are saved: task list, resources, wikis and issues.

Performance improvements - Various performance upgrades that jointly contribute for better user experience.

Wiki filter by project - Filter and view wikis by project.

Issue number - Specific counter for the number of issues in the particular space.

Additional improvements:

•    Improved security of the “I forgot my password” procedure.
•    Wikis are automatically unlocked it the user is removed from the project or space.
•    Tasks show information about the user who created them.
•    Unique resource name (in addition to the e-mail, now the resource name is also unique).
•    Projects that belong to deactivated resources are reassigned.

I believe that all of you are familiar with the statement (also from your own experience ) that the chocolate (besides some other also well know methods ) is known as the best and the cheapest stress relief. You may refresh your memory here and here and here.

As you may have already noticed, yesterday we have announced new Buzzer for Blackberry ®. This first release has almost the same functionalities as the Desktop Buzzer, but our idea is to make it full features project management for Blackberry®. Check it out and send us your comments and what you would like to see in the next release.

This year again, we are travelling to Hannover to attend CeBIT 2009!

As you remember, last year we made a debut on CeBIT with a lot of new features, accessories and special offer for the visitors on our stand.

Back then ProjectOffice.net was still in Beta, so we used our time on CeBIT to chat with all of you that came. Out of all the suggestions that you gave us we have managed to implement most of them.

This year again… We will be there to meet you and tell you what’s cooking. We expect you to tell us which spices you want us to use.

But first, we want to give 90 free daily passes to all that put the badge on their web sites or blogs.

How to manage your tasks better?

In a situation where countless number of factors can influence the flow of your project it is important to take all necessary measures to make sure that it will stay on time within budget and designated quality.
One of the things that can improve the work and reduce the project failure risk is to structure the work thoroughly to an activity level. Why? Mostly because if you define all the important elements, you don't leave anything to the case.

Otherwise, most projects that are not broken into smaller, more manageable units face a situation where:
•    The project will last 50% longer than it should
•    The project manager will be unable to make clear assignments to the team
•    The team will waste hours in status meetings
•    The project will finish late which may require weeks of rework.

We have taken this into consideration in the last iteration and decided to make WBS!
So, as of January 15th you can create subtasks up to 9 levels (same as in MS® Project).
